Last Friday, I went to a body sculpting class with my suitemate Mindy. I knew that I was not in the best of shape but I did not think I was in terrible shape. I was wrong. Body sculpting class showed me how very out of shape I actually am. We used all the muscles that I can think of: biceps, triceps, quads, calves, outer and inner thigh, shoulder, stomach, back, and chest. My upper body was stiff the next day but it was not that bad. My hips and thighs got the worst of it. They were sore for three days. I tried to climb down from my bed Saturday and almost fell. It hurt to walk down the stairs. I’m not sure what we did in class that made my hip muscles so sore but whatever it was I definitely felt it the next day. Mindy is in much better shape than I am and was only sore Saturday. If you attend this class regularly and do not get sore kudos to you. You are in much better shape than I am. I do think I will try to go to the gym more often but I don’t think I will be trying the body sculpting class again in the near future. I think I will stick to my usual gym activities consisting of the ellipticals, stationary bikes, and a little bit of free-weights. Maybe I will try yoga, zumba, or yogalates. Those classes sound a little less intense.
I always think I am in good shape till I get to a real workout. For now I just stick to walking on the weekends. Hope you find a workout that suits you!
ReplyDeleteWalking sounds like my kind of workout.
DeleteThose classes break me off too. I went to a Body Pump class and I was the only guy in there. It was pretty much me and like 30 divorced women with cats. I kind of got dragged into it. I thought since I bench press and all that good stuff I'd be a big man and use man weights.... After like 20 mins into the class the women in there were making me look bad and for the next week I felt like I was in a horrible car accident involving a mack truck.
ReplyDeletehaha 30 divorced women with cats? There were no men in body sculpt class that I saw, just me and like twenty girls who were all really fit and seemed to know what was going on so I guess it is a really good workout if you can talk yourself into going back every week.
DeleteOh wow that must have been terrible! I danced for 15 years and always going back after winter or summer break was torture because our instructor would make us do lots of stretches. It definitely made going up and down the stairs at school difficult! Are yogalates the same thing as pilates?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. The name makes me think its a combination of yoga and pilates but I have no clue what the difference is between yoga and pilates.
DeleteThat class is torture! I'm in pretty bad shape too. My roommate and I have been trying to get into shape for the past month and are determined to work out everyday. Yoga is really fun though! And way more chill.
ReplyDeleteGood maybe I will try yoga next time haha.
DeleteAhh! That class sounds intense, but something that'd be really good if you worked on it. It'd get easier I'm sure, and you'd be super fit!
ReplyDeleteI've recently found a pretty good workout that works just about every muscle... And it's fun, too! Rockclimbing! It's great for my twigly weak arms and legs, and it's free at the HPER building. Love it!
Those classes always seem so intense! Glad you made it through. It sounded like an amazing workout.
